Step by step

Six steps to a finished floor

01

Prepare the subfloor

Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, flat to within 3/16" over 10 ft, and structurally sound. No acclimation is required for ProTier SPC.

02

Plan your layout

Measure the room and dry-lay a few rows. Aim for a first and last row of similar width and stagger end joints at least 8" for a natural look.

03

Set expansion gaps

Leave a 1/4" expansion gap around the perimeter and all fixed objects. Use spacers along the walls as you work.

04

Lay the first row

Start in a corner with the tongue side facing the wall. Connect planks end-to-end along the row, lowering each into the 5G-i end joint.

05

Angle, drop & lock

Angle each new plank into the long-side profile of the previous row and drop it flat — the Välinge 5G-i locking strip clicks the seam tight, no glue needed.

Finish & transition

Remove spacers, install baseboard or quarter-round (fastened to the wall, not the floor), and add transition strips at doorways. You’re ready to walk on it immediately.
